Welcome To La Aldea Montessori

    Our Beginnings

The idea for La Aldea Montessori began when families from Dallas Primary (ages three to six) Montessori schools expressed interest in providing a continuation of the Montessori experience they had grown to love so much.  La Aldea (The Village) was chosen as the name when an English/Spanish dual immersion program was chosen as an additional key component to the schools mission and teaching philosophy.

    Who We Are

Our Founder, Shannon Carrigan, has worked with children and families for over 25 years.  She was introduced to Montessori long before starting her own family.  When her daughter Kate was born, they began their Montessori journey together.  When the time came for Kate to transition into Elementary school, Shannon didn’t find what she was looking for:  an affordable private AMI Montessori school serving the families of East Dallas, Lakewood and Lake Highlands.  Her love for her daughter, coupled with her growing passion for the Montessori philosophy propelled her to gather the support of fellow Montessori parents and community members and create La Aldea Montessori School.

    Our Goals

La Aldea will start out small, but we foresee that our unique offering of authentic Montessori combined with dual language immersion will differentiate us from what other schools are currently offering.  Because of this, growth will happen quickly and within 2 – 3 years we strive to expand our program to include upper elementary (ages nine to twelve, grades four to six).

Maria Montessori

“It is not true,” says Dr. Montessori, “that I invented what is called the Montessori Method. I have studied the child, I have taken what the child has given me and expressed it, and that is what is called the Montessori Method”.
